A girl who wanted to go to school
Long before she became the grandmother at the heart of this legacy, Mrs Ng Gim Choo, Founder of EtonHouse International Education Group, was a young mother living with her family in London.
Having recently moved from Singapore, she naturally worried about how her two young children—her four-year-old daughter, E-Ching, and her two-year-old son—would adjust to unfamiliar schools, new routines and a different cultural environment.
Her concerns soon gave way to something unexpected.
One Saturday morning, she awoke to find her four-year-old daughter, E-Ching, dressed in her uniform and ready for school. There was just one problem: it was the weekend, and the school was closed.
That small moment stayed with Mrs Ng. Her daughter did not simply go to school. She loved it so much that she wanted to be there even when its doors were closed.
And that Saturday morning planted the seed for EtonHouse.
Bringing a new vision of education home
When the family returned to Singapore, Mrs Ng was determined to create the kind of learning environment her children had experienced in London. One where children’s natural curiosity was celebrated and where learning felt purposeful, engaging and joyful.
In 1995, the first EtonHouse Pre-School opened on Broadrick Road in Singapore.
Here, children were seen as capable and curious. Their ideas were heard, their interests shaped their learning, and their individuality was celebrated.
Soon, parents began telling Mrs Ng something wonderfully familiar: their children wanted to go to school on weekends too.
From one school to a global community
That first school grew into a global community, brought to life by educators and families who shared her respect for children and her belief that education could transform lives.
From its first pre-school in Singapore, EtonHouse has grown into an international education group with schools across the world and learning pathways that extend from early childhood through to high school.
Across countries and generations, the belief at the heart of EtonHouse remains unchanged: children flourish when they experience the joy of learning, develop the confidence to express their ideas, and are supported in becoming the best versions of themselves.

Today, that same spirit comes to life at EtonHouse International School Bangkok.
Here, children become part of a story that began with one young girl’s excitement about going to school. It is a story shaped by love, strengthened by generations of educators and families, and carried forward by every child who enters our school with curiosity and wonder.
